It all began when Captain Joe was at the space station. When all the sudden Captain Joe had the best plan ever that he had all year long. He asked the launch people if they had enough money to blast another rocket. “They said that they barely had enough but, yes.”
We need the space ship were going to the plant z. Planet z! Oh no, they say they got aliens there and, sharp rocks and a lot of other stuff we might not know about. I know that’s why were going to destroy the aliens. Fine but, be careful out there Captain Joe. I will. Suit up boys we are going to planet z.
Oh no the aliens are here the aliens are here. Calm down we just got to planet z and plus we got bigger and better weapons. Are you sure because look over there the aliens has are proton cannon that left here years ago. They improved it but, how they don’t have anything out here in this waste land. Then we are just to have to explode the cannon. Good thing we brought grenades to destroy that old piece of junk, The space men zipped through the dense air and through them selves in to the space craft door and through a grenade through the air tight window.
The spacemen are going to blow up the cannon we have to stop them. Blast them. I am trying it wont fire it’s to slow. Throw the grenade. Ok boss. Boom the grenade went off. Yes, we destroyed the canon but, we have to build another when we get back you know that right.
Yeah but if we get back. The aliens have weapons quick get out the laser to blow there heads off. ZZZZZZZZZZZ. The laser is destroying the aliens its working hold on boys they got a sleep gun and it heading right toward us. Get back in the space ship. No, that spray is strong enough to get through the spaceship. Head for that rock they would never find us there. Oh no the aliens found us. Spray. That’s what you get for destroying are home. Take them to the chamber. Yes, at once sir. Hey were are we? You are in my chamber. Who said that who are you? It is me the invader leader Bob. The question is how are you? Well I am the fierce leader Captain Joe and these are my assistant Jim and Thunder bolt.
Can you let us go? No because you are the one how started to invade us. Well it would have worked if you wouldn’t have had spray guns. Oh yeah there my favorite. Said bob. So are you just going to hold us hostage here? The answer is yes, but you speak my language. Well actually you speak are language. Oh yeah like I going to believe my hostage. Hey…… silence I have business to take care of. Ha ha ha. Wow you call that an evil laugh. Yes see a later.
You’re not getting away. He just did said spaceman 2. Well let’s go stop him before he gets to are planet. We have one little problem were kind of stuck on the wall. You have smaller hands then that just slip through. Now get the key on the table. Ok now what? Get us out of the hand cuffs. Ok let’s find a way out. Start looking for an exit. There’s one out the elevator. We got to get to the space ship. Oh no we got here to late the spacecraft is gone. But they forgot to take the saucer with them. Do you know how to fly one because I don’t the 2 spacemen said? I do said Captain Joe it helps if you were paying attention I class last week. Oh was that was what were learning about. Just get in the ship before I leave you. Ok.
Let’s go save our planet. We’ve got to hurry. Start it. I am trying. Try harder. Oh it needs gas. Hey look it has a built in gas power filler. Well lets go ok were off for the decant.
They have beaten us here but, we are not giving up. Blast them. How did they escape the chamber nobody ever has?
Boom they already hit half of are ships. Retreat so we don’t lose anymore aliens and other things like that cannon on the top of your flying saucer. They won’t get away this time. Hit them with the big bomb. Boom. “We hit them we have got them they are destroyed.” Let’s go home boys. Said Captain Joe. Alright I can’t wait to smell the clean fresh oxygen on the nice warm and sudden planet Earth.
“Oh I can’t wait until that big raise on Monday.” Hold on I got a question what day is it. I don’t know lets just have a safe trip home said Captain Joe. So when they got home every body was there to congratulate their success. When he got back to the space station the scientist found something in the air. Captain Joe knew what it was. Said Thunder bolt. Flying saucer. Were under attack I thought we had destroyed them. Grab the army guns and machine guns this time their dead. Said Captain Joe. Set up the big cannon that we were working on. Wait hold on for a second the aliens can’t stand down here because if the oxygen level is too high they only need six percent of oxygen. Said the scientist.
Well we have to blast them while their distracted. There go half of them we have to have more power. “Get the machine gun”. Said military leader John. Get me more ammunition. Said Captain Joe. There goes another quarter. Just one more quarter fire another big bomb. Boom! We got them this time. What I am still here the mighty alien leaders bob. Now be gone with you. Oh no he has got the big spray gun. But before he could fire his ray gun at Captain Joe the military leader had one more water gun full of water ready. His water gun and fired it toward the alien. Boom. He had shot the alien right off his saucer and straight to alien jail were the glass was alien proof so nothing can get out and nothing can’t get in. So after there long day of work the Captain Joe relaxed and his chair and then remembered the bonus and all the Space ship station got a raise. They lived happily ever after.

Dear Parents,
I want a robot. It can do everything for us. While we just sit and relax it could do all types of stuff. I will explain why I want a robot.
It could work all day but sometime he will need a break but, he will always get the job done. Like when you’re tired and need a break then we can send the robot right in and clean the room. Even if we don’t feel like doing it then he can clean the whole room by his self.
When you and dad fold all those clothes and you need a break than the robot can fold all the clothes at hyper sonic speed to get it done faster. Then you’re all done with folding the clothes.
When you go to work and dads still working and there’s nothing to eat than the robot can fix something to eat. The robot will be programmed to do almost everything for us.
The last reason to take care of the house for us if the dogs want some food water or let outside then the robot can take care of that. If the house is falling while battling and evil aliens that have invaded the Earth the robot could grow more arms the robot can put the house back up while battling the evil aliens.
Those are all the reasons that I want a robot. Did I mention he is not battery operated? Because that would not be a problem for me because you wouldn’t have to go big batteries every five weeks. He is only wired by recyclable stuff like pop cans and plastic containers. We could also take him to grandmas and grandpas house to help them to maybe even bye another like that so it could do all those things for them. We can program that one different because like people they have different skills.

Dear Mark Martin,
I am Tyler a sixth grade student at Pioneer Ridge Middle School. I am writing to you because I want you to teach me how to drive your race car.
I know that you won a lot of races that’s why I am asking you to teach me how to drive your race car. I and my dad watch you drive your car around the track. Even on the radio we listen to the race all the way home because races take a lot of time to race about three hundred laps around the track.
I know what car you used to drive number six. I have your first model and your new model of the number six car. But, I don’t think you drive that car anymore.
So when I grow up I want to race. But, I don’t think I will be a racer unless you teach me how to drive the cars.

Last summer I wanted to go to my grandma’s house. I kept begging my dad to take me. I waited and waited each night.
I got up Saturday and my dad tells me to go get dressed. I said where are we going. He said we were going to Grandmas. So I stormed in to my room and got dressed and packed for two weeks.
Ok it’s a pretty long ride to my Grandmas. We listened to music and played some games on the way up there. We stop at a gas station for breakfast all the time unless we are in hurry but, we are not usually not so we ate breakfast.
Finally we are there the place were I have wanted to go. My brother and my dad slept there for the night. The next day my brother and my dad ate there then they left. So Then I had the time to myself with my Grandparents. I had a lot of fun with my grand parents. We went to the greenhouse and I helped transplant the flowers in some flats with a lot of soil in it.
Grandpa mixed the dirt and put the dirt into some flats but, the have to be a certain kind of dirt. I don’t get that but, I guess they do. I also watched western shows in my free time.
Well it was the night before I had to leave but, I asked grandma if I could stay longer. She said it was ok if your dad said it was ok. So I called my dad and he said it was ok.
So my two week vacation turned into a three week vacation. So I got to help transplant again I watched more westerns.
It came to the end of my stay. It was an awesome visit. I wanted to stay longer but, I knew that I had to go home and see my family and my dogs witch are family.

This is what I always dreamed of doing. Build a time traveler. Why you ask because I want to meet George Washington. I want to see life in the old days.
First I would have to build the time traveler. It will be a gold color with pictures of NASCAR cars on the side of it since I like racing. Oh and the most important thing the flames on the side for super fast speed. It can also fly up in the sky like a plane too.
I would get in the time traveler and go visit time in the old days. It will take a couple of minutes and then I am there. Oh and that’s not all It would be like a house with food and drinks. It also has a bathroom in it.
I am there and everything is like dreamed it would be. George Washington is in the revolutionary war so I will meet him as soon as he gets back from war. Oh look here come his troop now I will go meet him now. Hello Mr. Washington is that really you. Yes it is young lad. Well how is the country? Not so well we are in war right now. Oh well ok bye hope you win the war. We will try our best.
Now to see the life in the old days. Wow there’s a lot of family that are working outside. They planted crops out in there field. The children don’t have any school or electricity. On the bright side they are working outside at least they still have something to do. The kids seem happy.
Well I might like it here but, just a few more things before I decide. I want to see the houses that people live in. They would just have wooden chairs to sit in. They also have beds to sleep in. They have a lot of stuff that I didn’t think they ad in there houses.
I decided that it would be fun to live there because I like to work. I think the houses and the George Washington. I want to talk to George Washington again. I need to bring my family.

The winter in Canada is not like the winter in New York, so he dosn’t really know how to survive in the harsh winter. Plus, Canada is farther North, so it’s probably colder.

2. If Betty hadn’t come to Brian’s rescue during the bear’s visit, what might have happened?
Brain would probably have gotten mauled by the bear if betty the skunk did not come to his rescue.

3. Based on what you know about the outdoors, do the events in this story seem believable? Explain. No because a boy wouldn’t be the only passenger on a flight through Canada from New York at his age.

4. What theme does the relationship between Brian and Betty suggest?

5. Write a paragraph that describes what Brian’s actions in the wilderness reveal about his character. Use details from the story to support your answer. Brain has probably been in boy scouts before because his actions in the wilderness seem smart.

For about a century, wars have began and ended between two civilizations, the people of Rome and the people of Carthage. These battles killed thousands of people. In the end, only one civilization came out victor. We’ve put together a summery about these massive wars. First of all, the word Punic comes from the Latin language Phoenicia. We thought you might be wondering were the word Punic came from.

First Punic War: 264-241 BC

The three wars between Rome and Carthage span lasted 246B.C. – 146B.c..

The wars began when Rome intervened to prevent Carthage, Syracuse from controlling strait of Messina. The first flares went up Sicily In the east Greek settlement. When Rome went over to Carthage the Carthage people were very angry with Rome. Rome was under Carthage control before starting a war between Rome and Carthage because they wanted to be free from Cartages control. After, they went to other places that Carthage had control. Why Rome won all of the wars were because they had more soldiers. All Carthage had was money and riches. After all the wars it was Rome how had money and riches and more soldiers.

The Second Punic War: 218-202 BC

Carthage rebuilt there empire by taking over Spain. A small town in Spain got a peace treaty from Rome and agreed to help. When the new Carthage leader, Hannibal, heard of this, he took control of the town. The Romans tried to peacefully solve the problem, but were forced to start war, but the Carthage army was larger and more powerful.

The Carthage army was advancing into Rome controlled areas. The Romans tried their best to fight, but they were no mach. Allies to Rome started to join Carthage. The Romans had to stop Hannibal. They sent eighty thousand men to Italy to fight. Amazingly, Rome lost that battle, but not the war.

The Romans went back to the strategy of waiting out Hannibal. Hannibal was starting to run low on supplies and men, but he still attacked Rome. Rome was fighting defensively and was starting to win the war.

The Romans fought back the Carthage army and took back Spain. Rome than pushed back Hannibal out of Italy, too. One battle remained. Roman allies helped Rome. The final result of the second Punic war was Rome. The Romans had become a international empire!

The Third Punic War: 149-146 BC

The Carthaginian started attacking invading neighbors but Rome was way to powerful for the Carthaginians, so Carthage lost again. Rome had riches because they had control of Carthage after the wars they went to all the Carthage places to battle with them and Rome always won against Carthage because Rome had more soldier more than Carthage.

Conclusion

We learned that Rome was a very powerful and it was a big land. Carthage we learned that Carthage were just rich. We learned Rome had many soldiers and weapons. Soon after the wars, Rome was the one with riches. We have learned a lot if things about the Punic wars. Let’s just make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.

Basketball
I hear the swoosh as I hit the basket.
I hear the buzzer as it goes off when I shoot the ball.

I feel the basketball as it leaves my hand.

I see foul shots when people get fouled.
I see people being carried off the court because they got hurt.

I taste the Gatorade pouring down my throat.

I smell the hard gym floor as I play on the court.
